2010
I started reading some articles related to Lean Six Sigma and seemed interesting to me. I googled and searched for case studies related to six sigma, but never got anything more than what I needed. It went on till 2013 and when I decided I should go for training & certification courses, to understand what Lean Six Sigma really is.
2013
I purchased a book of Lean Six Sigma – ASQ Handbook, and started reading like my childhood days and note down any doubts I had. But some of the doubts never got clarified. Neither Google, YouTube no one had that answer. But I continued. In between, I started the implementation of some of the tools like SIPOC, Process flows, etc.
2015
I enrolled for a training and assessment program, the last two years of investment in training helped me to clarify all my doubts, and I was the one who had most of the questions among others. Other participants who never prepared before came to training and had no doubts. It meant they will go back and when they read they will have doubts, and then no one to clarify. 60% of participants scored well and got certified, yes I too.
2017
I continued to search for opportunities to do my projects, but my organization where I was working did not have a culture of six sigma, so I had to search for external opportunities. Somehow I got 4 entrepreneurs who were ready to share their organization as a platform to me to experiment with Lean Six Sigma projects. I can say it was good learning for me. Only 1 lean project went till closure and the rest were on hold in between. I did some other projects also and completed at least 10 green belt projects before I started preparation for the green belt.
2019
Like a green belt I prepared for a black belt and enrolled for an online assessment & certification with IASSC, I reached out to few mentors in LinkedIn who helped me to clarify my doubts. I cleared Six Sigma black belt with 86%, good enough for me to get a certification.
